the up and comers: dominic louis

Our favorite thing at Oak is staying on top of what’s next. we’re surrounded by so much talent that we decided to make a section on our site dedicated to featuring some of the brightest emerging designers from around the world each season. We decided to call the section The Up and Comers. We get to be one of the only places where you can shop collections from these designers before they make it big. we’re kicking with off the section with an editorial featuring dominic louis as he joins this seasons’ other up and comers: sally la pointe, erro, skingraft, johnny hates jazz, r13, linn lomo, odeur, and songzio.

Hailing from philadelphia and graduating from FIT here in new york – designer louis mairone presents his first collection that we are pleased to now offer: dominic louis. Much inspiration for the line comes from the androgynous subculture of New York City, hence the unisex nature of so many of the pieces. Each garment is handcrafted in New York and contains a sense of drama not typical for most young designers. Though much of the collection leans towards menswear, the collection is unisex and there are several excellent pieces for women and men. our favorites are the stacked denim jumpsuit and pants, and the amazing red warrior shawl.
