OFF THE WALL: NEW MUSEUM 2015 TRIENNIAL: SURROUND AUDIENCE

triennial22 copyBy Conor Riley

The New Museum opened 2015 Triennial: Surround Audience today, with the vast exhibit spanning all 5 floors of the museum. Featuring 51 artists, Surround Audience explores the effects of an increasingly connected world both on our sense of self and identity as well as on art’s form and larger social role, according to the museum. Curated by New Museum Curator Lauren Cornell and artist Ryan Trecartin, highlights include Josh Klein’s “Freedom”, artwork from Juliana Huxtable, Frank Benson’s statue of Huxtable, video work from Casey Jane Ellison, installations from Onejoon Che, and Daniel Steegmann Mangrané’s Oculus Rift piece “Phantom” which OAK highly recommends experiencing first-hand.
