OFF THE WALL: JEREMY DEPREZ AT ZACH FEUER

jdfeat
By Luke MacMillan

Jeremy Deprez’s exhibit Tenant all started with a businessman’s shirt, spotted by the artist at a Starbucks. The vertical line pattern of the shirt stuck, and challenged Deprez to create works that played with line movement and color. The resulting effect of these paintings display irregularity and power, a theme that the artist associated most with the shirt. Tenant ultimately explores not only the influence of line, but space as a whole, and how different balances of space affect everything visually.
