OFF THE WALL: DAVID LACHAPELLE LAND SCAPE

3O6A7837-6

There’s no Lil’ Kim painted in Louis Vuitton print, and no Amanda Lepore snorting lines of diamonds, but David LaChapelle’s Land Scape exhibit – freshly opened at Paul Kasmin Gallery – is still distinctly “LaChapelle.” Consisting of about a dozen large-scale photographs – bursting with his signature neon color palette – Land Scape is a series of replica gas stations, power plants and refineries (built from hair curlers, bendy straws, y2K cell phones, and Rock Star energy drinks) that have been submerged in jungles, deserts and other natural environments.
