OAK SPRING ANTHEM: LIL’ WAYNE “A MILLI” (JAMES BLAKE HARMONIMIX)

James-Blake-Lil-Wayne

“I just wanted to make Lil Wayne sing,” James Blake told Pitchfork in 2010 of his remix of Weezy classic “A Milli.” The London producer insists he had only heard the vocals to “A Milli” before reworking it, and that his goal was to bring out the sadness in Wayne’s voice. The fact that Blake’s fans go so hard for it in the club only shows the diversity of both the original track and his new production. The minimal, staccato beats of the song’s original arrangement also easily lend it to reinterpretations, and the Harmonimix edit is easily our favorite re-imagining of it out there. So whether you’re dancing to it, or getting down with a lonely Lil Wayne, we hope you enjoy today’s OAK Spring Anthem as much as we do.
