After a season spent in Paris and another on hiatus, the menswear-cum-women’s wear designer Tim Hamilton returned to New York for his F/W2011-12 collection that was presented in a large wood-paneled room at the Standard Hotel. Forty models were presented on rotation, perhaps a dozen at a time, in front of a huge wave of onlookers that was on the brink of breaking onto the narrow runway at all times. Hamilton’s designs are often noted for their marriage of abstract tailoring and precise craftsmanship, and this collection developed the concept further with the help of an important visual reference: the paintings of artist Ross Bleckner.
