MIXED MEDIUM: CAROLINE PAQUITA

Brooklyn-based artist and longtime friend of OAK Caroline Paquita is preparing for her first NYC solo installation Garden of the Womanimal, a look back at almost 15 years of drawings, paintings, prints, zines and sculptures. Opening this Saturday in Greenpoint, the exhibit will also serve as the launch of an extremely limited edition of books, archiving some of Caroline’s pieces from over the years. Yesterday, we stopped by her BK studio to check out some of the pieces that will be included in the show, talk about her creative process (she makes badass prints on a Risograph, does live vajazzling performances, and is introducing LED lights into boob sculptures), and the fun she had back in the day with OAK’s own Alicia Rae (the two go waaay back and even toured together with Caroline’s band Bitchin).
