IN THE HOOD: SOUTH WILLIAMSBURG – SHALOM JAPAN

shalomfeat

At Shalom Japan, chefs Aaron Israel and Sawako Okochi serve up a fantastic menu – a mixture of traditional foods from their respective Jewish and Japanese backgrounds – to create a unique take on New American cuisine. You’d be insane not to order the Sake Kasu Challah with Raisin Butter as an appetizer, and as far as drinks go, OAK recommends the Legal Drinking Sage and Pip Pip Cheerio! For appetizers, try the equally excellent Scallop Sashimi and Grilled Chrysanthemum plates, and for a main course we suggest the Pastrami Stuffed Chicken and Potato Salad  (just re-added to the menu) and Lox Bowl (a Shalom Japan staple).
