i love this: roberta's & kitty house

roberta’s by kimberly christenson

1. Where in New York is this?
261 Moore street
Bushwick, Brooklyn

2. What’s your favorite memory here?
bonfires, brunch, pizza and lambrusco

3. When is the best time to go?
DON’T go on a Friday or Saturday night. The place is totally packed and a nightmare to get a table. Stop in on a weekday or head over for some brunch on the weekend.

4. If you could take anyone in the world here who would it be?
my mom and dad.

1. Where in New York is this?
Coincidentally this is on Oak street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I walk by the house on my way to and from work almost every day. Kitty House is this old sort of back set house with a large front yard filled with foliage, fountains, benches and yes, kitties. Kitties of all ages. Mom and Dad, teen kitties and awkward little kittens frolicking around the lawn. Honestly I don’t know who lives here but I occasionally spot a middle-aged man in tan Carhartts that loiters on the porch. I like to think of him as part of the bohemian artist set but he is probably just a construction worker who lives with his mom and a bunch of cats.

2. What’s your favorite memory here?
I enjoy seeing the neighborhood elderly debutantes that stop by kitty house in their oversized fur coats and house slippers.

3. When is the best time to go?
The kitties are fairly smart and only come out on sunny, moderately warm days.

4. If you could take anyone in the world here who would it be?
I guess anyone who likes cats.
