candy magazine

via the oakazine:

Candy Magazine, created by Luis Venegas, is the type of publication that fashion folks have been dreaming about and salivating over the thought of for years. Breaking the mold of the prototypical fashion mag with predictable A-list celebrity guest stars, Candy is the first trans-style magazine of its kind.

The creator of the magazine is Madrid-based Luis Venegas, also of Electric Youth which has become known for its teen-’zine boy-crush aesthetic. Venegas describes his newest venture as the first “Transversal Style” magazine: “the first fashion magazine ever completely dedicated to celebrating transvestism, transexuality, cross dressing and androgyny, in all its manifestations.”

This issue’s cover star is none other than James Franco emulating Joan Collins or Alexis Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan in a black power suit and a face full of Dynasty-inspired jewelry and makeup. Shot by Terry Richardson, the mystery cover was released a month ago with a blacked out silhouette asking the reader “Who’s the new cover girl?” Today, Venegas revealed Franco and caused quite a stir in the press. In a market with so many so-called “serious” fashion publications, Venegas reminds us that fashion should be fun, playful and centered on the joys of getting dressed up — whether it be as a man or a woman.
